Red Head™

Acmena smithii Red Head™ is an attractive large shrub/small tree with lush glossy, rounded, broad, deep green foliage. New growth flushes red to deep claret and changes to a chocolate colour before hardening off to dark green.

With dense foliage which responds very well to pruning and shaping and a good growth rate, Red Head™ makes an excellent screen and can be hedged from approx 1.5m high, or alternatively, can be grown clear-trunked as an attractive small tree ideal for urban plantings reaching an ultimate height of approximately 6m.

Clusters of very small white flowers are followed by bright purple edible berries. Red Head will be an excellent contrasting plant to use with Acmena Sublime™.

Acmena smithii Red Head™ is PSYLLID FREE, fire retardant, cold tolerant and has low water requirements once established. Well drained soil with some organic matter and regular fertilizing will ensure good performance in the garden.
